Hello. Uh...Hello??? Tap, tap, tap! Is this thing on???

If life is an experiment... well, let's consider this blog my beaker and you, the reader, my hot plate?  Oh, what the heck?  I can't remember jack about scientific experiments with beakers filled with fluids professors swore would kill or at the very least scar you for life, so perhaps I have started with the wrong analogy... Anyhow, this is my brave and perhaps a little risky entrance into this modern day theater called "blogging."

Granted, this is NOT my first blog post by any means, you can read some of my posts on www.gracenoteworshipstudio.com and www.buildingjudah.com, but this is my first Personal blog and I hope it will be as fun for you as it is for me!

I have NO IDEA what I may post about on any given day... so you'll be as surprised as I am if you care to hang around and quench your curiosity... assuming you're curious and I will do just that - positive thinking and all...  But, I do have a small request - if as we go along, something sparks your interest and you'd like to see a post about it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Before we go on, I'd also like to add one more thing... I love writing.  I love people.  I love to have fun, and I don't mind a little constructive criticism.  I think it can be a genuine trigger for personal growth!  However... I hate "meanness!"  So, please be honorable in your feedback, even if you're sanding what you perceive as a rough spot.. Ok?  Okay!  I think we've read the instructions, now time for the games to begin!!!  Yay!!!

For my first experiment... I think I will let you in on a little weekend project I've decided to take on!  Since our family is preparing to move into our very FIRST home (like as real grown up homeowners and all), of course I now have the PERFECT excuse to start looking for new furniture!  Especially since our current home could basically fit in the living room of the new one... Anyhow, I found a pair of gorgeous "fruit and nut" chairs on craigslist.  They are in PERFECT condition, but need an update on the fabric... which I happen to find at as big of a STEAL as the chairs themselves... so, keep your eye out for pics as I take on my second official re-upholstering project!  I am so excited and since their simply needing the seat cushions covered, I am crossing my fingers for a quick transformation!!!  I really love taking old things and making them new again - there will be a few posts on that, I am sure!

SO - Ready, Set... Here we GO!
          Thanks for stopping by....
Ya'll Come Back Now! Y' hear!!!

PS... Pics of chairs coming soon - apparently our computer is rebelling at the moment! ;)

However, for your current viewing pleasure, here are some shots of my very FIRST upholstery tackle...
Isn't she a beauty?  Ok, so she could totally use a Spa day, but she's got good "bones," as we like to say around here!

I love the Sleigh curve of her lines... and the scrolls, just screaming for high gloss black paint to show them off!

I originally wanted something like a strong black and bright white damask, but who am I kidding - we have a little!

So, Chris, my husband picked out this lovely compromise... Nice huh?

And the labor of love, began... sanding down the wood to paint, dismantling and stripping 3 equally hideous layers of fabric!!!  Wait, did I forget to mention the 45lb black widow that crawled out in the process - yep, right next to my 9mo old baby boy!  EEEEEEEKKKKKK!!!!!

Hubs at work.

Getting her all painted up... wait - can someone please remove the baby toys????!!!!
